Hi @RGF4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding scanning documents directly to your "Documents" folder using the HP OfficeJet Pro 8725!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Ensure Printer and PC Connectivity

Verify Internet Connection:

  • Your printer should be connected to the same network as your PC.

Install or Update HP Software:

  • Ensure that you have the latest HP software installed. You can download the updated drivers and software from the HP Support website.

Setup Direct Scanning

Use HP Smart App:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Open the app and select your printer.
  • Choose "Scan" from the app interface.

Scan Settings:

  • In the Scan window, set your preferences, such as color mode, resolution, and document size.

Save Directly to Documents:

  • After scanning, in the HP Smart app, choose to save the scanned document.
  • You can specify the directory as "Documents" on your PC.
  • Make sure you select PDF or the desired format if you want specific file types.

Automate Document Saving

Configure Save Location:

  • Within the HP Smart app, check if you have options to automatically save to the "Documents" folder. Some versions allow you to set default save locations.

Use Windows Scan:

  • Alternatively, you can use the Windows Scan app if installed, which might give you direct save location options, including directly scanning to the Documents folder.

Additional Tips

File Naming and Organization:

  • Customize file naming patterns and organization in your app settings to streamline document handling.

Check Permissions:

  • Ensure you have permission to write to the Documents folder; sometimes user permissions can affect saving files directly.

I hope this helps.
