scans producing no image

i no longer receive an image scanning in HP Scan. The scanner goes through the process of scanning but no image is received. I thought that my antivirus was somhow stopping the image being received, but it doesn't work on my second computer which has no antivirus.

I've spent quite a lot of time trying to get HP Scan to work, and I've tried all the solutions suggested by HP but with no success.

It used to work perfectly and nothing has changed on my computer, so I can only suggest that it is down to something that has changed within HP Scan.

Looking through the posts it seems a lot of people have the same problem without getting much help from HP.

It makes the MFP M28-M31 scanner justa printer.

There is something wrong if the printer does a scan but nothing is received.

Occasionally when I do a scan, the scan is received but the page is white because someone (me) had set the contrast so low that nothing was visible.  Raising the contrast revealed the image of the document.

Check that the scan is to a document or image type that is supported.  Do not scan for OCR if OCR is not supported or no OCR software is loaded.

Check to see if the scan is defaulting to an email or is being stored in a different location than you expect.

Can the latest HP Smart scan properly?

HP Smart. get HP Smart from the Microsoft store if needed or if you want the newest version. You will have to sign into HP Smart using your HP account. The latest version as of Jun, 2024 is 154.2.1072.0 (USA English). If you do not have this version then go to the Microsoft store, find HP Smart, and click "update". If the button "update" is missing then you need to run WSRESET from the Windows search bar.

I got HP Smart and it seems to work well. For all the scanning I need to do it will be fine.

That is strange:  Smart works but Scan does not.

On my CM1415 HP Scan can process 200dpi up to 1200 dpi but Smart can only do 200 and has fewer format options for what to do with the image after the scan completes.  I rarely use HP Smart.  It can do a region change unlike HP Scan but I have no need for a region change.
