How do I set up my printer to receive faxes?

Here's how to set up your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer to receive faxes:

Connect the Printer to a Phone Line

• Use a two-wire telephone cord (not four-wire).
• Plug one end into the wall phone jack and the other into the 1-LINE port on the back of the printer.
• If you have an answering machine, connect it to the 2-EXT port on the printer.

Configure Fax Settings on the Printer

From the printer control panel:

• Go to Fax > Setup > Preferences.
• Set the following:
  • Fax Header: Enter your name, business name, and fax number.
  • Answer Mode: Turn Auto Answer ON to automatically receive faxes.
  • Rings to Answer: Set the number of rings before the printer picks up. If you share the line with an answering machine, set this to 2 rings more than the answering machine.
  • Ring Type: Use All Rings for a dedicated line or Distinctive Ring if using a special ring pattern.
  • Dial Type: Choose Tone (default) unless your phone service uses Pulse.
  • Fax Volume: Adjust to hear fax tones or set to Off for silent operation.

Test the Fax Setup

• On the printer, go to Fax > Run Fax Test.
• A report will print with the test results.
