We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

When attempting to scan to email the HP ENVY 7640 displays "! Server Connection Error"  , "There was a problem connecting to the server.  Touch Retry to connect again, or OK to exit.".  

The scan to email function worked fine yesterday and today it no longer works.  Also the "Retry" button brings up the same error display.  I tried the solution listed above and to no avail.

How do I fix this problem?

Since scan to email worked fine earlier, it looks like a temporary issue. Restart your printer, router and your device and try scan to email again.

 

If issue persists, open the Web services settings on your printer and let me know the status.

 

In most cases, scan to email works only when a local email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, Live Mail, or Mozilla Thunderbird, is installed and set up on the computer.

Web-based email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail) must be configured through your local email client to scan to them.

 

 What email client do you use, local email client or Web-based email accounts?

I use gmail and have been ever since I bought the printer over a year ago. I have scanned and emailed to myself dozens and dozens of documents and it has always worked. I don’t believe that this is an email client issue, I think it is a server connection issue.

Thank you for responding. Please restart your printer, router and your device and try scan to email again. 

 

If issue persists, open the Web services settings on your printer

Turn Off and turn ON the Web Services and let me know the status.
