Hi @computer01,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set up "Scan to Computer" on your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3830 printer, follow these steps.
Ensure Printer and Computer Connectivity
- Printer: Make sure your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3830 is connected to your network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
- Computer: Ensure that your computer is connected to the same network as the printer.
Install HP Software
- Windows: Download and install the HP Smart app or HP Full Feature Software from the HP Support website.
- Mac: Download and install the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start from the HP Support website.
Set Up Scan to Computer
- Windows:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Select your printer.
- Click on the "Scan" option.
- Click on “Scan to Computer” and follow the prompts to set it up.
- Mac:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Select your printer.
- Click on the "Scan" option.
- Click on “Scan to Computer” and follow the prompts to configure it.
Enable Scan to Computer from the Printer
- On the Printer:
- Go to the printer’s control panel.
- Navigate to the “Scan” menu.
- Select “Scan to Computer” and ensure it’s enabled.
Check Settings
- Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking communication between the printer and your computer.
Once everything is set up, you should be able to initiate scans directly from your computer or the printer, and the scanned documents will be saved to your specified location. If you encounter issues, restarting both the printer and the computer can sometimes resolve connectivity problems.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
