Hi,
The HP Solution Center software has left from your previous printer, it have nothing to do with your new HP Officejet Pro 6970 printer:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04995079
Open the HP Printer Assistant by clicking the HP Officejet Pro 6970 icon on your desktop or search for HP and open the HP Officejet Pro 6970 icon from within the search results.
Click on Scan a Document or Photo and select Save as PDF, press Scan and any documents on the top feeder will be scanned to a single file, or click the plus sign to scan more pages from the flatbed glass, once you're done press Save.
