My version of Paper Port no longer works Win 10.  On line others have trouble with even more current versions.  Is there any way to stack multiple page scans into one file title?

@paulppp, It's great to hear from you again.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

You cannot scan a stack of books using ADF. You have to scan each page manually over flat bed scanner.

If the book has no cover or staple on it only then you can use ADF of the printer to scan the pages automatically.

Try the steps recommended below to scan to a single file.

Open the Printer Assistant / Solution Center shortcut on Desktop (Printer icon on the Desktop named for your printer)
Open Scan a Document or Photo  (wording varies)
Select Document to File / Save as PDF
Select Scan Size >> example: Letter (equivalent to 8.5 X 11”) or Entire Scan Area
Ensure Resolution is <= (less or equal) 300 DPI
Check   Show scan preview
Select "Flatbed Glass" or "Use Document Feeder if Loaded"  (Wording varies)

NEXT:  After other selections are complete on this page, Select Advanced Settings

Under Advanced Settings for Document to File >
Select tab File >
Clear / UNCHECK   “Create a separate file for each scanned page”

Place the documents you want to scan in printer's automatic document feeder
Use HP Solution Center to perform the scan.
Click Scan Document
Choose Document to File

Mr Robot,sir

thanks for the input on scannning multiple page docs:But

My difficulty is with scans not applicable to ADF: That is scanning pages from a magazine or other attached doc, without tearing it apart, which most libraries disapprove of.

My HP program provides me the option to click the "+" and go to the next page of the multiple pages from the scaner glass top, but when saved, each page is a separate file.  I will try coping in various formats if i have not already, and can't remember.  This is where Paper Port did yoeman service, regardless of format.

Sorry for this delayed response- a very busy time and I do not do computer daily.  Appreciate your help

The key to accomplishing saving a multi page scan as one file was in the advanced settings options and perhaps applied to PDF.  I will experiment with other formats, but thank you for this  solution.  I am a happy camper again.
