I understand a red status light on the Samsung SCX-3200 printer usually indicates a problem that needs attention. Since you're encountering this issue while attempting to make a copy and the scanner does not start,
here are some troubleshooting steps:
1. Check for Error Messages
- Look at the printer's control panel or the connected computer for any error messages. Common errors might include "Paper Jam," "Scanner Error," or "Low Toner."
2. Inspect the Scanner Area
- Open the scanner lid and ensure there are no obstructions (e.g., dirt, dust, or foreign objects).
- Check if the scanner glass is clean and free from smudges or debris.
3. Check the Paper Path
- Ensure no paper is jammed inside the printer, particularly around the scanner or paper feed areas.
- Remove any stuck paper carefully and close all covers securely.
4. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 1 minute before plugging it back in and turning it on.
- Try making a copy again.
5. Verify Scanner Functionality
- Try scanning a document using the software on your computer to see if the scanner works independently.
- Open the scanning software (e.g., Samsung Easy Document Creator or the Windows Scan app).
