Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Let's run an automated tool to clean the ink cartridges.
-
Load plain, white paper into the input tray.
-
Press Setup.
-
Select Tools, and then select Clean Cartridge.
The printer prints one page.

I am having the same problem. I am sure it is not being solved by cleaning the catridges. If you make a print test from within MS WORD and you select printing quality "draft", the shadow goes away. However, any other printing quality shows the shadow. This work around, however, will not work printing PDFs (for example from within Internet Explorer).
Any other idea how to solve this?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
- What is the operating system?
- Did you make any changes on the settings of your Printer prior to the issue?

The solution from HP DID NOT WORK. Here's how I got around the problem. I was typing a Word document in Windows 10. When I got done I went to the HOME tab and highlighted all the text (select all). Then on the right hand side of the menu I selected the CHANGE STYLES drop down. (change styles has those two AA colored fonts). Then selected STYLE SET. Clicked on WORD 2003. POOF! PROBLEM SOLVED. Save the file.
