Hi @GMO66,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When your HP OfficeJet Pro 9210 reports "device not found" during scanning, it could be due to several reasons, such as connectivity issues, outdated drivers, or incorrect settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Connections

Ensure Proper Connection:

  • If the printer is connected via USB, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, ensure the printer and computer are on the same network.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off the printer and computer.
  • Wait for a few minutes and then turn them back on.

Step 2: Check Printer Status

  • Check the printer’s display panel for any error messages or warnings.
    • If connected via Wi-Fi, check the printer’s network status to ensure it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Step 3: Update or Reinstall Drivers

Visit HP Support:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search for your printer model (HP OfficeJet Pro 9210) and download the latest drivers and software.

Install Drivers:

  • Install the latest drivers on your computer.
  • Restart your computer after the installation is complete.

Step 4: Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Visit the HP Print and Scan Doctor page and download the tool.
  2. Run the Tool:
    • Open HP Print and Scan Doctor and follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix the scanning issue.

Step 5: Check Scanner Settings

HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Select your printer and try scanning from the app.

Windows Fax and Scan (Windows Users):

  • Open Windows Fax and Scan from the Start menu.
  • Click "New Scan" and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9210.

Image Capture (Mac Users):

  • Open Image Capture from the Applications folder.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9210 from the list of devices.

Step 6: Verify Firewall and Security Settings

  1. Firewall Settings:
    • Ensure that your firewall or security software is not blocking the scanner function.
  2. Add Exceptions:
    • Add exceptions for HP printer and scanner software in your firewall or antivirus settings.

Step 7: Reset the Printer

  1. Factory Reset:
    • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the settings menu.
    • Look for an option to perform a factory reset. Follow the instructions to reset the printer to its default settings.
    • Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network or computer after the reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
