I've been trying to scan things and keep getting the feature unavailable when I tap scan. I've tried each suggestion on the support page and I am still having the problem. It has worked for the last year and a half, and today it won't.

Hi @RoxyBaby,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with scanning from your printer.

Are you able to make a colour copy on the printer standalone? (Place a colour document on the scanner glass and make a colour copy to confirm if the hardware is working fine).

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

D) Refer to this link for more scanning related issues.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day

I tried to print, and I could. I tried to scan again and I still couldn't. I did all the steps that you told me (again), and still could not scan. I remembered the other instructions said to go in and clear the cache, so I did that as well as force stop on the program. I went back into the program and it worked! Thank you for your help! Even though I already did all that, I guess second times the charm. I appreciate you.

I got the same feature unavailable pop up again when I tried to scan my papers again. I keep my important papers logged, and I need to scan them in. I tried the exact same process as last time and this time it did not work. PLEASE HELP! This is too stressful, and something has to change, this can't keep happening a week after I get it fixed.
