HP LaserJetPro MFO M428fdw

When I attempt to send scan to email I get a "server failure" message. I noticed that my sender profile name is no longer HP name but an email. I tried to change the sender profile information but am unable to because I don't have access to this device on my dashboard. I tried adding this device to my dashboard and when I enter the serial number [Personal Information Removed]I get an invalid serial number message. Is there a way to change the sender profile on the device itself?

Hi @Gom30_techhelp,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To change the sender profile on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw, you typically need to access the printer's web interface. Here are the general steps you can follow.

Access the Printer's Web Interface:

  • Open a web browser on a computer that is connected to the same network as the printer.
  • Enter the printer's IP address in the browser's address bar. You can find the IP address on the printer's control panel or by printing a network configuration page.

Log in to the Printer's Web Interface:

  • You may need to enter a username and password to access the web interface. The default credentials are often provided in the printer's documentation. If you've changed the login credentials and can't remember them, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer.

Navigate to Email Settings:

  • Look for a section related to email or scan-to-email settings. The location of these settings can vary depending on the printer model.

Update Sender Profile:

  • Within the email or scan-to-email settings, you should find an option to update the sender profile or email address associated with the scans. Modify the sender profile to the desired email address or HP name.

Save Changes:

  • After making the necessary changes, save the settings.

Additionally, ensure that your email server settings are configured correctly in the printer's email settings. Double-check the SMTP server, port, and authentication settings to ensure they match your email provider's requirements.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
