I've been working on this problem for hours now. I've tried reinstalling the drivers in software for the printer 3 or 4 times now with no success. I can print to computer or fax to computer using a USB cable. But if I try to use wireless it will not work.
Play the articles I have read in. mention a scanner management icon or button. It allows you to enable print your computer I've never been able to find it on mine.

Hi @Yendor2, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your HP OfficeJet 3830 prints fine via USB but not over Wi-Fi, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Printer Connection
Ensure the printer is connected to Wi-Fi:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
- Check if the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- If not, reconnect it and note the IP address assigned to the printer.
Ping the Printer:
- On your PC, press Win + R, type cmd, and hit Enter.
- Type: ping [printer IP address] (replace with the actual IP).
- If you get a response, the printer is connected to the network.
- If no response, restart your router and try reconnecting.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP's website.
- Run the tool and select your printer.
- Follow the recommended fixes if it detects an issue.
Remove and Reinstall the Printer
Remove the Printer from Windows:
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click your printer and select Remove device.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Download the latest full driver package from the HP support page.
- Run the installer and choose Wireless Setup.
- If prompted, use HP Smart App to assist with setup.
Manually Add Printer via IP
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner, then The printer that I want isn’t listed.
- Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
- Enter your printer’s IP address.
- Follow the on-screen steps to finish the setup.
Check Firewall and Network Isolation
- Ensure your firewall or antivirus is not blocking the printer.
- If using a dual-band router, ensure your PC and printer are on the same frequency (2.4GHz or 5GHz).
- Disable Wi-Fi isolation (AP isolation) in your router settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
