I am unable to send a fax from our HP M127fw. I can receive faxes just fine but cannot transmit. The fax self test says everything is a PASS. I get a dial tone, but apparently it goes no further. I installed all the latest updates and don't know what else to do.

Thanks for your response. The troubleshooting tips did not enable me to fix it, but the weird thing is that when I tried it again today it worked. ??? Yesterday I would get the dial tone and the sound of the number being dialed, and at least sometimes a brief fax tone before it either just cut off or I could hear the message "to make a call hang up and dial again." I did try several times and with a couple of different numbers, and also called them to verify that I had the correct number and that their fax machine was working. I didn't do anything different today, and was just doing a trial so I could document exactly what I heard from the other end, and it worked just fine! Go figure....

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

 

So, when you start the fax and enter the number, you hear a dial tone, but do you also hear the printer dialing the number?

 

Do you then hear audible ringback from the other end?

 

Do you hear the "screech" tone from the other end indicating it is readying to receive the fax?
