I am trying to scan something and it is asking me for a password. I don't remeber using a password when seeting my printer up and id so I don't remember what it was. Is there a way I can change the password?

Hi @lecroys,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having issues while scanning on your HP OfficeJet printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
What program are you using to scan?
Have you tried to use HP Scan and capture and check if that helps
Are you trying to scan from EWS page?
Where do you exactly get this message?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
I would suggest you use HP Scan and Capture application to scan using your Windows 10 system. HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos or documents from an HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera. These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications as well.
Go to http://hp.care/2bUVkrw to download and install the Windows Scan and Capture app.
If your printer is asking for an administrator password and Is the printer connected to the network already? If so, let’s try to fix the issue by following the steps mentioned below:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Now go to the Security Tab - Administrative Settings.
- Uncheck the "Control Panel Lock".
If the issue persists, then we will have to completely reset the printer. I am sending you a private message to perform the reset on your printer. Please click on the mailbox icon at the top-right corner to access your inbox.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers!
