hp inkjet smart tank is giving me an error message when attempting to scan to email: 

username and password is incorrect. 

not sure what un and pw they are referring to 

please help

Check Email Settings: Make sure you have the correct email server settings for your email provider. This includes the SMTP server address, port number, and whether SSL/TLS is required.

Re-enter Credentials:

  • Access the printer's settings through the control panel or HP Smart app.
  • Locate the email setup section and re-enter your email address and password.

App Password: If you're using two-factor authentication (2FA) on your email account (like Gmail or Yahoo), you might need to generate an app-specific password. Check your email provider’s settings for this option.

Less Secure Apps: Some email providers may block access from "less secure apps." If your printer isn’t considered secure, you might need to enable access for less secure apps in your email settings.

Firmware Update: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve connectivity issues.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Check if any firewall or antivirus software on your network is blocking the printer's access.
