Hi @Ralphie48,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding setting up your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Install HP Printer Software:

  • Ensure that you have the latest HP printer software installed on your computer. You can download it from the HP Software and Drivers page.
  • Select your printer model and operating system, and then follow the instructions to install the software.

2. Connect the Printer:

  • Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer. Use a Wi-Fi connection for wireless scanning or a USB cable for direct connectivity.

3. Set Up Scanning from the Printer Software:

  • Open the HP Printer Assistant software on your computer (this is installed as part of the printer software package).
  • Click on the "Scan" section and select "Scan a Document or Photo".
  • Choose the desired scan settings (such as file type, resolution, etc.).
  • Click "Scan" and save the scanned document to your preferred location on your computer.

4. Configure Scan to Computer:

  • Ensure "Scan to Computer" is enabled in the printer software.
  • Go to the printer control panel, navigate to the scan settings, and ensure that your computer is listed as a destination.

5. Use HP Smart App for Scanning:

  • Optionally, you can use the HP Smart app which is available for download from the Microsoft Store.
  • Once installed, open the app and select your printer, click "Scan" to start scanning documents directly to your computer.

6. Troubleshooting Tips:

  • If your computer does not detect the printer, check the network connections and ensure the printer is connected and powered on.
  • Make sure any firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the printer software.

I hope this helps.
