Hi @kjg3 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer on Windows 11, here's how you can save your scanned documents and choose the best file format and compression options:

Where to Save Scanned Documents:

HP Smart App:

  • When using the HP Smart app to scan, after the scan is complete, it will prompt you to save the file.
  • You can choose the destination folder where you want to save the scanned document, such as Documents, Desktop, or any custom folder.
  • In the HP Smart app, after scanning, click on Save or Save as, and choose the location on your computer.

Windows Scan App:

  • The Windows Scan app (built-in to Windows 11) also allows you to select the save location after scanning.
  • Go to Settings within the app to set the default save folder or choose the folder after scanning.

File Formats and Compression:

PDF Format (Recommended for Documents):

  • If you're scanning multiple pages or need a shareable, lightweight format, PDF is the best choice.
  • PDF compression helps to reduce the file size without significant loss of quality.
  • After scanning, select PDF as the file type and check for compression options in the HP Smart app. Choose standard compression for smaller file sizes, or high-quality for less compression but larger file sizes.

JPEG or PNG (Recommended for Images):

  • If you're scanning photos or images, you can choose JPEG or PNG as the format.
  • JPEG supports compression, making it a good choice for reducing file size. Select medium to high compression for smaller file sizes with acceptable quality.
  • PNG is lossless and does not compress as much, so it's better for high-quality image scans.

  • Documents: Use PDF with standard compression to save space while maintaining readability.
  • Photos/Images: Use JPEG for smaller file sizes with acceptable quality or PNG for high-quality images.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
