@RusstySpurs, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Scanning Issues with HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e All-in-One Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e All-in-One Printer is cutting off the left-hand edge of the page when scanning to PDF, you can perform the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check the Document Alignment: Ensure that the document is correctly aligned on the scanner glass or in the automatic document feeder (ADF). Make sure the document guides are properly adjusted to avoid any misalignment.

Update the Printer Drivers: Confirm that your printer drivers are up-to-date. Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for Windows 10 (64-bit).

Scanner Settings Configuration: Verify the settings in the scanning software (such as HP Scan or HP Smart) to ensure the scan area is correctly configured:

  • Open the scanning software.
  • Select the PDF option.
  • Check the scan settings (like scan area, resolution) to ensure they are set correctly.
  • Adjust the margins, if possible, to avoid cutting off parts of the page.

Firmware Update: Make sure the printer firmware is up-to-date. Check for any available firmware updates that may fix scanning issues.

Clean the Scanner Glass and ADF: Dirt or smudges on the scanner glass or debris in the ADF might cause scanning issues. Clean the scanner glass and ADF using a cloth and ensure it is free from dirt.

Check for Paper Size and Type: Verify that the paper size and type selected in the scan settings match the document you are scanning. Incorrect paper size settings can lead to parts of the document being cut off.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
