Hi all i wondered if anyone could shed some light on the issue my father in law is suffering with.
He has a deskjet 2632 which he has had around 2 years but never used the copy function till around 1 month ago which he then found when using the copy function on the printer it scans the document but when it makes the copy its like it has not scanned the last 1 inch of the page and misses part of the document.
Because we thought this was a fault we purchased a new printer a deskjet 2700 series only to find the same problem i have sat on the phone over 1 hour with tech support going though basic settings for realigning the printer etc and changing paper sizes and nothing has worked so they said return the printer for a refund.
but 2 different printers 2 years apart are not going to suffer with the same fault so there must be something they are missing or they are selling alot of faulty printer
thanks in advance

The source of the result might be nothing more than the margin requirements on these less expensive DeskJet Printers.
Both these printers fall into the same general series type.
The bottom margin requirement is 12.7 mm (1/2 inch).
The other margins are smaller at 3 mm
The larger margin on one side (bottom edge) is a hardware limitation and naught can be done to change it.
This does not explain the missing full "1 inch" though it does possibly explain the source of the discrepancy between what you expect and what the printer can deliver on a printed paper.
For example
Product Specifications for the HP DeskJet 2632 All-in-One Printer (V1N05B)
Minimum print margin, top (A4) | 3 mm |
Minimum print margin, bottom (A4) | 12.7 mm |
Minimum print margin, left (A4) | 3 mm |
Minimum print margin, right (A4) | 3 mm |
and
Print Area Print margins: Top: 3 mm; Bottom: 12.7 mm; Left: 3 mm; Right: 3 mm
What to do?
Scan the content instead of using Copy.
Set the scan to size or select "Entire Scan Area"
Save the data and then print as available.
Maximum flatbed scan size (metric) | 216 x 297 mm |
Maximum flatbed scan size | 8.5 x 11.69 in |
