Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Scanjet 4890 issue with scanning slides.  The images are black or mostly white whether I'm using the slide tray or scanning individual slides.  I do know to remove the white TMA cover for slide film and to use the Transparency option.   Someone suggested I needed to be sure that the transport switch is in the unlocked position.  I do not see any type of switch on this device.   Is there one?  Also, please suggest an application replacement for HP scanning application for the scanjet since HP has dropped support for their application.
