Hi @zionaxel, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6830e prints from the computer but won’t copy, it could be due to a hardware issue with the scanner or a software glitch. Try the following troubleshooting steps:
Perform a Power Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- Try making a copy again.
Check Scanner Light and Glass
- Open the scanner lid and check if the scanner light turns on when trying to copy.
- Ensure there are no smudges or dust on the scanner glass or automatic document feeder (ADF).
- Clean the glass with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner (do not spray directly on the printer).
Test Copy Function
- Place a document face down on the scanner glass.
- Use the copy button on the printer's control panel to make a copy.
- If using the ADF, ensure the paper is properly inserted and not jammed.
Check for Error Messages
- If an error appears on the printer display, note it down.
- Common issues include Scanner Failure or ADF jam.
Update Printer Firmware
- Visit HP Support and download the latest firmware update for your printer model.
- Install it and restart the printer.

Perform a Scanner Reset via HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile.
- Select your printer and navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance.
- Look for an option like Reset Scanner or Restore Defaults.
Try Copying via HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart App on your PC or smartphone.
- Use the "Copy" feature within the app to check if the issue is with the control panel buttons.
Factory Reset the Printer
- Open Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults from the printer’s control panel.
- Confirm the reset and allow the printer to restart.
- Try copying again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
