Sprocket Studio
iOS

Sprocket studio starts to print a photo, whirrs for a minute or so, then displays flashing red light and app shows an error message “replace cartridge” but the cartridge is stuck in the machine. Pressing the release tab only allows it to move 1/2 in. The cartridge was only half used previously,

Power cycling to reset printer just causes the same cycle to be repeated.

With more force, the cartridge was removed and replaced. The same cycle repeats. it was then replaced with a brand new cartridge, and the same happened again. So it seems to have ruined two good cartridges. It looks as though there is a drive roller pressing against the coloured film in the cartridge that is making it difficult to remove.

I can't pretend to be very impressed by this. The printer has only been used to print 17 photos, then was put away for a few months before attempting to print further photos. The warrantee was not much good either - bought in October 2019, not even 12 months before it expired, then HP want to charge fees to even ask a question about support. As to get it repaired, who knows how much it would cost - throwing good money after bad.

Looks like my best option is just to write off the £120 and never buy an HP printer again.

Seems I'm not the first to report this: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Sprocket/Stuck-cartridge/td-p/7494822.

They didn't get much help either.
