Hi i am a newbie and have read thru this thread but haven't found what I am looking for.  I am trying to instal an exe file and get the MIME error, can someone help me with that?

.exe is a Windows executable file.  The TouchPad runs webOS as its operating system.

You cannot use a windows .exe file on the TouchPad.

webOS Doctor is actually a recovery tool that is made to be run from a computer, not run from the TouchPad itself. The program runs and the computer and re-installs webOS to the TouchPad.

Considering MIME files are the most basic forms for almost all attachments which are converted to when sent via email pretty dumb that mine or anyone else's touchpad doesn't support it. Almost every email attachment and or .PDF .exe etc..... Are basically MIME files please push trough a update for this. You put a incomplete touchpad on the market I bought this for school which I cannot use for school. All the apps ask for $ found a few online for free but can't download them due to the error message. All I ask is quit being GREEDY!!!

@KaelansDad - which webOS apps are you trying to download that produce this error? Are you using the App Catalog to download them, or some other means?

It sounds like the apps you want might not be intended for webOS, or are in a compressed format.

I don't consider a struggling software author asking $0.99 for an app "greedy", but that's just my opinion.

To expect any email application to support all MIME content types in existence is pretty ubsurd. Most email clients use third party apps that register MIME handlers to view that content (this includes "regular" email clients like Outlook, Thunderbird, etc). What type of file are you trying to open on your TouchPad that is generating this error? By knowing that, I might be able to help you view your content.

I am sorry to be repetitive, but I am old and don't understand all of the technical stuff. I wanted to get an app from my insurance company to keep track of health information. It said I had to download iTunes so I did. But it tells me it cannot open MIME type. Is there no way for me to get this app? I'd also like to get one for my local newspaper that is available.

The TouchPad runs webOS as it's Operating System.  The programs you are wanting to run are most likely designed to run under the Windows Operating System.

iTunes does not run under webOS since it is not a webOS application.

You need to use the App Catalog to find applications that will run on your TouchPad.
