I regularly down load audio books to my droid, and attempted to do the same on my touch Pad. Immediately after starting the download, I receive the the following error: Cannot open MIME type files.
Does anyone have a workaround for this issue?

Ok, I think this thread needs a little clarification since it is apparent that a lot of people are having this problem.
The Cause:
MIME allows the Web browser to handle file types that are not web pages (audio, video, documents, etc). It does that by using MIME handlers. A MIME handler is a link to a seperate application that is dedicated to that type of content (for example, the Video player installs a MIME handler for Video content). This error occurs when the Web browser tries to access content that does not have a MIME handler (for example, if you try to access a .wmv video. .wmv videos are not supported by the TouchPad Video app and will generate this error).
The Fix:
Find a webOS application (through App Catalog or through Preware) that supports the type of content you are trying to access and install it on your TouchPad.
Note: It is possible that no application exists for the type of content you are trying to access. If that is the case, then you are out of luck.

I get this error message when downloading attached PDF files from Gmail. And I have Adobe Reader installed.
The issue with Gmail attachments is that when downloading them, it does not add the .pdf extension (even though it shows a PDF icon). I use a file manager and just add the .pdf to the filename.

Since purchasing the HP Touch Pad in 2011, I've not been able to resolve the Cannot Open MIME file, problem that many others seem to have. There are many constructive and positive things to say about this device, it is unfortunate that this issue of 'MIME' not opening, looms over "HP's reputation like a storm cloud. Will one of the HP representatives please help me to resolve my problem?

These are peer-to-peer (user-to-user) forums. HP support agents who visit here do so on their own time, and I'm pretty sure that there are no webOS support agents active here, if there are even any left.
What type of file(s) are giving you the error message? And what suggested solutions in this thread have you tried?
