In reading these posts, I see that there are several of us with same issue but no answer that I have seen so far. My question is the same as others. Why load touchpad with adobe and not be able to either use and or update it? Seems like such a waste. Are there any updates or work around for this issue? If so would you please be kind enough to include info and links? Thanks!

The answer has been provided repeatedly, yet the question continues to be asked!
If you don't have a program already installed on your TouchPad that can handle and understand the file format being downloaded, you will get the generic Mime error. There are files that will never run -this includes Windows files (Adobe updates) that cannot run in webOS. (BTW, Adobe quit making updates for most mobile OS's, not just webOS)
I'm assuming you understand webOS has basically faded into history, and there will be no further updates from HP. Best advice would be to load Android on your TouchPad, like most of us have done!

I know that there will be no more updates on the touchpad. The only other question that I had when it comes to that particular point, was with the open webOS if there were any updates and might provide a workaround. My comment about Adobe stems from the fact that it was loaded on the touchpad yet for the time that the touchpad had support you would think that there would've been Adobe updates to address this. By chance are there any other programs other than Adobe reader that would address this PDF issue?
Raining prior posts before this issue, I know that many of you have put android on your touchpads. Will Adobe work in this case on the android system? ISS because I don't have an android phone I have an iPhone so I'm not real familiar and how that would work on a tablet. I tried hard to follow prior posts related to adding android on the touchpad and had a heckuva time following the directions. I'm just not that tech savvy when it comes to doing something like this and for me although I know that there were directions and several post had a very hard time with it.
Thanks for your time and your effort to help.

Here's where to start installing Android on your TouchPad. Note, the procedure is not particularly endorsed by HP, nor supported here on the site. If your device gets "bricked" during the process, you're on your own.
That said, the process is very cool, it lets you boot into either webOS or Android, and Android will make your TouchPad just like new. It runs faster, and there are lots of apps.
Good luck.

I tried to load an ebook and I got MIME error message. What can I do?
Install an app that can open whatver format your ebook is in, or only download ebooks in a format that are supported by an app on your device.
