Thanks for the heads up f0rkb0mb too late on the update but that explains a lot of initial issue I got trying to install the firmware. It installed no brinking yet but I am in teh process of removing bitlocker.

I guess I should clarify as I used bricking pretty loosely...by bricking I mean it caused the device to only accept the recovery key... one of the exact issue we were trying to resolve. This was not a problem device before and after the 1.17 update it immediately caused an issue where it would only accept the recovery key.
The solution was to decrypt > clear the TPM > rencrypt. It seems to be holding.

Just revisited our Elite X2 1012s and upgraded the firmware to 1.17. We're still getting the same problem as before. After Bitlockering it, the system wants the recovery key after each reboot. Tried decrypt > Clear TPM > decrypt but the results were the same.

Sorry to hear that man, 1.17 is a botched BIOS update according to our rep and should not be installed.
However, the fact remains that it is still on Hp's site, which is a testimate to HP's attitude towards this tablet..

Try decrypting it and clearing the TPM via the BIOS vs through the OS.
If that doesn't work you may have to get your HP rep on the phone and demand a resolution... one would *hope* that if enough companies demand a fix they might actually fix it....

Thanks  for the TPM clear option suggestion. I did try clearing it from BIOs but alas got the same result. Glad it's working for you. I'll see if I can scare up our HP contact and put some heat on him.

Just an FYI to everyone, BIOS 1.17 has officially been pulled from HP's website....

Good news! The 1.18 BIOS has been released. It actually does work well on the 1012 and BitLocker encryption on our systems. Huzzah!!

That's good news! We started testing it in a pilot group a few days ago and haven't had any issues with it.
We still have other 1012 issues, but nothing ivolving BitLocker...Baby steps. :catlol:

I had applied the BIOS update reset and everything went good. I reapplied the bitlocker on the system but its still prompting the bitlocker key after the reboot. Anything special I might be missing? I cleared out the from BIOS the TPM.

I would go into tpm.msc and verify that the TPM is not currently defending against dictionary attacks. If it is, there's some kind of discrepancy between the stored PIN and the Entered PIN.
If it isn't defending against dictionary attacks, but is still prompting for the recovery key at boot-up even after 1.18, I would call your HP rep, they need to be aware that 1.18 did not resolve your isse.
