I bought a Micro A male to Type A female USB adapter and managed to get access to the tablet via keyboard and mouse. I have followed the steps with the following results:

Touch screen doesn't work after upgrading to Windows 8

Activate Windows 8 and install updates - DONE - has not effect.

Check for driver updates at hp.com- DONE - has no effect. Latest BIOS also installed. F.0E

If there are no graphics drivers available, please download and install the following touchscreen driver update (Next Windows driver update): sp57846.exe . - N/A. Current Driver Installed  10.18.10.3348. Latest from Intel website.

Disable the graphics card: DONE - has no effect.

Verify in System Properties if the Touch Screen Device is being detected. - DONE. No pen or touch input available for this display. USB security options not available in BIOS.

Perform a Microsoft System Restore: - NOT DONE

Perform an HP System Recovery: - NOT DONE

Tapping the touch screen does not do anything

Clean the screen: - NOT DONE

Perform a full shutdown: - DONE. Has not effect. Restarted about 40 times already.

Configure the touch display: - CANNOT DO. No tablet options available in Control Panel.

Perform a Microsoft System Restore: - NOT DONE

Perform an HP System Recovery: - NOT DONE

A touch occurs next to the point touched, not at the point of touch

CANNOT DO. No tablet options available in Control Panel.

At this stage all I have left is to do a system restore or recovery. I have looked around the BIOS and run the diagnostics but found no issue. However - when I open device manager I get the folllowing error:

undefined

On investigation:

There is a problem with the driver for I2C HID Device. The driver needs to be reinstalled.
InformationalDevice information
Name: I2C HID Device

Any thoughts? Will contact HP suport tomorrow.

Spoke to HP support. They checked I had installed all windows and HP updates (I had) and then suggested system recovery. The tablet does not have enough internal memory to do a recovery that retains user files so I had to do a full wipe. On rebooting the issue with touchscreen and I2C HID device in control panel still persisted. Will contact HP again.

HP advice: if problem persists after full restore then it cannot be software related. They are sending a courier to replace the tablet.

Hi,

I am helping my friend who bought a Omni 10 5600eg tablet in Germany.

His tablet has lost its touch-screen function. Windows update, driver/softare update via HP support, BIOS update, reinstalling Windows 8.1 all did not solve this problem...

"PC  and devices/PC info" says "Pen and touch: No pen or toouch input is availabe for this display."

And according to Device manager, there are two "I2C HID Device" and one is showing an error "A request for the HID descripitor failed."

Table - touch screen = useless...

Could anybody give me a help?

My tablet returned to lost the touch. I tried everything to correct the problem. I don’t know what to do any more. The HP Brasil doesn't receives the tablet for repair. I bought my tablet in USA (Microsoft). My warrant ends 12/29/2014. I am very disappointed with hp tablets.
