Folks,
When I turn off DHCP and use a static IP address on my Polycom VVX411, the Skype for Business auto-discovery fails. I use a default gateway of xxx.xxx.xxx.254. If I turn on DHCP, the phone connects to Skype for Business. Anyone seeing this problem and know how to resolve?
Thanks,
Joe

Hello @jrebele,
as already commented by @RyanTrainor there are various mechanisms that Microsoft documents in order to get phones working.
DHCP option 120 and Option 43 as an example is required for Extension & PIN and are only checked via DHCP. We can work around this specifying a STS-URI so that should not be the issue.
I would always chose DHCP over fixed IP's as this will just end up in a mess.

Hello @jrebele,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
I am not aware of any issues or change in behaviour as long as you would be using the same details for DNS etc.

The Lync Phone Edition (Aries) devices depend on a bunch of DHCP options to find the server.

I believe that's still true for the modern VVX phones if you're trying to use PIN based auth.
Rather than using static IPs, try setting a DHCP reservation on the server for the phone's MAC address. Same basic outcome, but auto-discovery via DHCP still works.
