Hi I have problem with my pavilion dv9500 [ 9567 ], I've installed everything, all drivers etc. I have just one problem. When I close laptop cover my laptop is still working, I want it to go sleep or hibernate, whatever. Any suggestions? I check all things in the power management  in control panel, but still nothing.

Hi,

1. Write down Your p/n which is under Your computer and looks like this.

2. Where You using WU? If not please don't use it.

3. Which drivers are You using. From this guide, Vista or any else?

4. If You are using mouse, external keyboard or any other external device like: usb wireless, etc. then uninstall software and drivers  for it and restart system. Check is this issue still in Your system.

5.  Try to test Your system in Clean Boot. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment then we may say then it may be not so big problem. Report about it.

6. Please use Powercfg command to check this issue. To do that, refer to the steps below:

  • Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), right click on the "Cmd.exe" and choose  "Run as administrator".
  • Type "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" (without quotation marks) in the open window and press Enter Key.

  • A list of the configured devices to wake the computer will be received, then type the following command to disable them one by one and see if the culprit can be found. (We may test the result after disabling each device.)

Powercfg -devicedisablewake "devicename"

Note: "devicename" is a device name listed as a result of running the first command.

  • For example, if the network card "Intel(R) PRO Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection" is listed, we can type the following command to disable it and press Enter.

Powercfg -devicedisablewake "Intel(R) PRO Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection"

  • Please repeat the steps for other devices in the list.
  • Reboot the computer and check this issue again.

If the issue will still be in Your system, type the following command and post the result here:

  • Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), right click on the "Cmd.exe" and choose "Run as administrator".

  •  Type "powercfg -lastwake" (without quotation marks) in the open window and press Enter Key

ok, sorry there won't be any screenshots, the only devices which exists after powercfg were mouse and keyboar, I disabled them, restarted and check last wake, but still nothing. I use vista drivers for most of deivces. The only one was graphic driver which I downloaded from the nvidia home page

Daniel, I was wondering if I could have your opinion. I've been following this thread for a long time and would really like yours or anyone else's input.

I have an HP Pavilion dv9200 CTO notebook and really want to buy Windows 7. However, I know that many of the drivers I would need for Windows 7 are not available, but that there are ways to use old ones from Vista. I have Vista Home Premium right now.

So here's the question. Is it worth it to go ahead and install Windows 7 and then try to find working drivers for my computer, or should I just wait until HP or someone else puts out Windows 7 drivers for the dv9200? If I do install win. 7, is the hassle really worth it? Any reply would be appreciated.

Thank you,

                -Michael

Hi:

You know I find very usefull your notes.

But I have a question (important for me)

I have a HP Pavillion dv6600 and since I installed Win7 Enterprise (previously I had Vista Home Premium) a cooler or fan does not stop working. And the machine works too much hot than with Vista.

Did you went trouhgh the same problem?

Did you solve it in any way?

After installing "chipset" and "video" driver published in this page, the problem is NOT solved.

THANKS!

I was just curious if there is a usb fix for users running windows 7 x64 with 2gb of ram.

Everything works for my dv9000 except the usb ports
