we just released Poly Voice Software–Lite (PVOS-L) for Poly Rove DECT IP phone. This release covers Poly Rove handsets, base stations, and repeater hardware on firmware version 8.0.7.0004

 

The above is for Poly Rove 20, Poly Rove 30, Poly Rove 40, Poly Rove B1, Poly Rove B2, Poly Rove B4, and Poly Rove R8


This release covers the following hardware and software versions:

● Handset firmware: 8.0.7.B0004
● Base station firmware: 8.0.7.B0004
● Repeater firmware: 8.0.7.B0004

 

What’s New in This Release 

 

These release notes provide information on important field fixes and the following new features:

  • Enhanced Push-To-Talk

Poly frequently provides software updates with new features and recommends that you regularly update the software on your phones for the best performance and experience.

 

Enhanced Push-To-Talk 

 

Push-To-Talk (PTT) on the Poly Rove DECT IP Phone system is now faster to initiate, more user-friendly, and compatible with using headsets. You can use most 3.5 mm wired headsets and Bluetooth headsets.

 

 

Using PTT with Poly Rove Handsets

 

Initiating PTT on Rove now takes less than 1 second with the PTT turbo mode enhancement that applies to all methods of using PTT. When you initiate PTT, you now hear a confirmation tone when PTT is ready to use. You also see a PTT Connecting animation on the Rove handset until PTT is ready to use.

Send PTT with a Poly Rove Handset

To send PTT on a Rove handset:

1 Initiate PTT on Rove handsets by pressing and holding the following buttons:

 Rove 20 handset: Center navigation button  Rove 30 and Rove 40 handsets: Mute button 2 Speak into the handset’s microphone. 

3 Release the Center navigation button or the Mute button when done. 

 

 

NOTE: All handsets and connected headsets that have enabled PTT in your assigned group receive your audio.

 

Using PTT with 3.5 mm Wired Headsets

 

You can connect any 3.5 mm wired headsets to your Rove handsets. Connect a headset to the 3.5 mm headset port on your Poly Rove handset and PTT automatically outputs on the headset. On the handset, select the headset model. The headset jacks are optimized to use one of the following models:

  • Poly Blackwire 33x5 
  • Poly Blackwire 52x0
  • Poly Encore Pro 
  • Klein PTT

 

Specify a 3.5 mm Wired Headset

 

Select the Rove handset settings to specify a 3.5 mm wired headset.

To specify a 3.5 mm wired headset:

  • Go to Menu > Preferences > Audio Settings.
  • Select Headset Selection.
  • Select Default or one of the optimized Poly or Klein PTT 3.5 mm headsets.  

 

Using PTT with Klein Electronics PTT Headsets

 

Rove handsets now support the Klein Electronics 3.5 mm PTT headsets that provide an in-line microphone with a PTT button.

Connect a Klein PTT headset to the 3.5 mm headset port on your Poly Rove handset and specify the headset in the Rove handset settings.

Select the Rove handset settings to specify a Klein PTT headset.

 

To specify the Klein PTT headset:

  • Go to Menu > Preferences > Audio Settings.
  • Select Headset Selection.
  • Select Klein PTT

 

Send PTT with a Klein Electronics PTT Headset

 

To send PTT on a Klein PTT headset:

  • On the Klein PTT headset, press and hold the PTT button to activate PTT. 
  • Speak into the headset’s microphone. 
  • Release the PTT button when done. 

 

Using PTT with Poly Voyager 5200 Headsets

 

Connect a Poly Voyager 5200 Series Bluetooth headset to your Poly Rove 40 handset and specify the headset on the Rove handset. 

Connect to a Poly Voyager 5200 Headset

Configure the Rove handset settings to connect to a Poly Voyager 5200 headset.

To connect to a Poly Voyager 5200 headset:

  • Go to Menu > Settings >  Bluetooth.
  • Select Enable Bluetooth and press the Toggle softkey. The Enable Bluetooth status changes to On.
  • Select Search for Devices.
  • Select your Bluetooth headset in the list of devices and select Pair.

 

Send PTT with a Poly Voyager 5200 Headset

 

To send PTT on a Poly Voyager 5200 headset:

  • On the Poly Voyager 5200 headset, press and hold the Call button. 
  • Speak into the headset’s microphone. 
  • Press the Call button again when done. 

 

Strict Line Seize

 

Poly Rove now supports call servers who don’t send 200 OK responses to a line seize when configured as a shared line before allowing a phone call to proceed. 

To enable strict line seize settings:

  • In the system web interface, go to Service Providers > ITSP ProfileN > SIP.
  • In the Default column, clear the check box for  X_StrictLineSeize.
  • In the Value column, select the check box for  X_StrictLineSeize.
  • Select Submit.
  • Reboot your system when you complete your changes.

 

 

Time-Limited Search on Directory Server 

 

Poly Rove now supports setting a time limit on waiting for a Directory Server search to complete. 

To specify the maximum number of seconds to wait for a directory search request to respond:

  • In the system web interface, go to Service Providers > Central Directory > LDAP Search Parameters.
  • In the Default column, clear the check box for TimeLimit.
  • In the Value column for TimeLimit, enter the time in seconds to limit the LDAP search. The valid range is 5 to 120 seconds. The default value is 5 seconds.
  • Select Submit.
  • Reboot your system when you complete your changes.

 

Extended Character Length for BroadWorks Fields

 

The field length for the following configuration parameters is 63 characters to support the use of BroadWorks XSI features in Poly Rove:

  • X_XsiUserName
  • X_XsiPassword

Firmware Upgrade for Rove Base,Handset or Repeater via the Web Interface

 

NOTE: This only works in Single Cell!

 

Navigate to System Management > Device Maintenance

Note: You can only upgrade 1x hardware type at the same time aka uloading a Base Station Firmware will update only the base stations. The device will automatically detect the model ased on the firmware.
