HP Officejet 4630
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hey Everyone.   Can anyone help?  Thanks!

I bought a brand new HP Officejet 4630 Printer, Scanner, Fax, Photocopier, Wireless Printer, Breadmaker, Surfboard Waxer, Mustache Trimmer, WIndow Washer, etc.

I've been able to print with it when it's connected via the USB cable.
I have not been able to print with it wirelessly via the "not via the internet" function.
I have not tried to print with it wirelessly via a router or the web (via HP ePrint).

I am trying to scan but cannot.

I get this message from the screen on the printer:  "No Computer Found".  Make sure the printer software is installed on your computer, and that "Scan to Computer" is enabled.

1.  Where does one go to enable "Scan to Computer"?
2.  I am pretty sure the printer software is installed.  I just now installed via the internet and then in an attempt to troubleshoot (when THAT didn't solve the problem!) via the disc.  No luck.  Zilcho.
3.  I have now attached not only the USB cable but also the phone looking cable.  No luck/no change.
4.  I have run the troubleshooter over & over again repeatedly.   I do this by going to my desktop and clicking the HP Officejet icon.  The screen that pops up is:  "PH Officejet 4630 Series : HP Printer Assistant".  Across the top it reads:  HP Connected.  Print, Scan, & Fax.  Shop.  Help.  Utilities.  Estimated Ink Levels.   I choose:  Print, Scan & Fax.  Then I choose:  Scan.  Then "Scan a Document or Photo".  I get:  "The HP Officejet 4630 series was not found."  I click "Okay."  Which by the way, should be changed to "Okaaaay.".
5.  I go to:  Utilities.  I click:  "HP Print and Scan Doctor".  Then OK.  Then wait.   "Searching for products.".  The following products are visible from your computer:   HP Officejet 4630 series.  USB.  Installed.       and    HPePrint  Network  Installed.  I choose the first one, HP Officejet 4630 series.
6.  "Communicating with your selected product."  "Your current default printer is "HP Officejet 4630 series." Select an action:   Fix Printing.  Fix Scanning.   I choose:  Fix Scanning.
7.  Recommended updates.  Green!   Device Manger:  Green!  Drive check:  Red and an X.   The Scan driver is unable to communicate with the product.  Save your work, close all applications....restart.  I have done this twice.  No luck.
8.  Device Status:  Green!
9.  WIndows (WIA) Scan.  Green!
10.  HP Twain Scan:  Yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it.  : O    HP Twain Scan Error:  Please save your work, close all applications, .... restart computer.... run the utility again.  Like I said, I restarted twice.
11.  Skip.
12.  Registry.  Good!  Green!
13.  HP Scan:  Green!  Check!
14.  Test scan:  Nothing.
Exit without taking survey.

Anyone have any clue?  I just bought an expensive doorstop.   Could it be not working because I am running Windows 8.1?

Thanks for your input.  Oh, I need answers, not more questions, got it?  Answering an answer with questions doesn't help at all.  I need answers.  Thx.

Adam in Lost Angeles.
