I am having the same issue as @roverguy who posted to this board in Nov 2015: I am suddenly receiving an error message that says "Memory device is read-only" when scanning to a USB, despite never having this problem before. I tried three different USB sticks, all with the same error message.
I turned the machine off and back on, without result. I read your response to @roverguy, and performed the check for firmware updates both on the front panel of the printer, and via the link you provided. According to the self-check within the printer, it already has the latest version of the required software. Then I downloaded the most recent version of the firmware (FDP1CN1640BR).
Neither of these actions fixed the problem: I still receive the "Memory device is read-only" error message, despite the USBs all working perfectly on other devices.
You mentioned that you would send @roverguy a semi-full programming reset off-line, and that seemed to work for him. Can you please advise if this will be necessary for me as well, or if you have other suggestions? I need a solution as soon as possible, as I am in the middle of an important project that requires scanning. Thank you in advance for your prompt assistance.
