I recently bought the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477 and began printing from it via a connection to my wireless router.
When I downloaded and tried to installed the HP software for the device, the installation failed ("no available driver), I lost access to the router, my Windows slowed to a crawl. I ended up resetting Windows and, with the help of HP support, installed a universal driver - which allowed me to print, but not scan.
When I downloaded and installed the HP software again, the only function the software allowed me to do was scan - but I lost the ability to print.
I uninstalled the HP software and duplicated the steps of HP support and again found and installed the universal printer, restoring my ability to print. But now I am relectant to reinstall the HP software again as a means to scanning. Is there a good alternative that allows scans and good management of scans?
