Product: HP 8610 All in one

I removed the cartridge pack to refill with new ink cartridges, now I cannot get the carriage back to the loading position (far left of range).  When the door is open it says cannot print with the door open, when the door is closed.  When the door is closed the message reads "print carriage cannot move, clear obstruction.

 

I have tried the power cycle, unplugged from wall and printer, does not help.  I went out and bought $160 worth of cartridges to no avail!!

 

Does anyone know how to get the carriage to the load position without destroying the printer??
