Dear all,
I ran into a problem with the Synaptics touchpad on my HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC.
I installed Windows 8 and everything was fine. I checked the box 'Disable the touchpad when there is another mouse connected' in Control panel->Mouse->Synaptics driver tab, so the touchpad was disabled.
Than I ran Synaptics Touchpad Firmware Update file sp59579.exe from HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
The firmware update ended with an error 000749E3: Cannot connect to Synaptics Driver.
I retried and the firmware update returned error requiring Synaptics driver ver 15 or newer. I installed sp81891.exe from HP Pavilion Notebook - 15z-ab000 CTO (Touch). and retried to update the firmware. The program returned the same message requiring driver ver 15 or newer.
All my attempts to restore the touchpad have failed.
I reinstalled and updated Windows 8.1, but Control panel->Mouse replies it cannot connect to the Synaptics driver.
Now the touchpad is disabled and I cannot use it.
Can you help me have the touchpad operating again?
