Heyo. I have been having issues getting the black ink catrdige to work on my office's Envy 4501 printer. We have had this printer for years with not isseus, however all of a sudden our brand new black ink cartridge, the same make and model that we have been using for years, has suddenly not worked.
When inserted, the printer interface prompts that the cartridge is incompatible.
The ink catridge that we are using is the 61XL, Black Noir. On the side of the package it does confirm that the ink is designed to work with our printer. We have a 61XL tri-color cartridge in the printer operating without issues.
As far as trouble shooting has gone:
The processes outlined in "HP ENVY 4500, Deskjet 3540 Printers - Cartridge Missing or Incompatible Ink Cartridges Error Displa... have been followed up to the point of purchasing a new cartridge to try again-- that is outside of budget.
I have also followed the suggestions outlined in the relevant archived post. Including updating firmware, reinstalling the printer, manually cleaning all prongs with Q-tip.
I am out of solutions to try except for a new cartridge, which again purchasing a new catridge is not an option at this time.
