Can't find a similar problem so I'll start a new string.
HP OfficeJet 5255 installed 2 mos ago and all worked fine. Today, it won't scan using the typical apps; MS Windows scan, PaperPort, and even HP Printer Assistant or HP Scan (for the 5200 series).
HP Printer Assistant HP Scan at first was saying 'Officejet 5255 not found' even though Windows was printing to it.
Got that message to stop, but Printer Assistant HP Scan is just sitting there with _nothing_ happening now.
IT _WILL_ SCAN using a direct https into Embedded Web Server that I finally found.
The printer shows up in Win10 devices as ok, the printer works printing ok, just the scanner not responding to any of the apps.
Did the normal troubleshooting, reboot, restart, driver update check, firmware check, HP Print and Scan Doctor, and the virtual assistant. Downloaded OJ5200_full_webpack_44.4.2678 to get the new Printer Assistant, and still nothing for scanning. Not sure where I found EWS, but it works, so I know the printer is connected and the scanner does work,
WHY WON'T the apps that worked last month work now?
