HP Envy 5532
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All

I have an ongoing problem with my HP Envy 5532 printer not able to launch from the full feature driver software, or from the Windows print command within any installed apps. It is connected Wirelessly .

I have just purchased the 2020 Spectre x360 , and whilst installing the correct HP Full Feature Drivers from HP,  the installation says it was installed and completes, but when I launch the "HP Envy" icon on the desktop, a Printer Setup dialogue pops up asking whether  I want to connect a new printer or add more software, instead of showing me my printer and print and scan options.

When selecting connect new printer, the installation finds the correct wireless printer ip address and correct printer name, and then again proceeds to set it up and finishes with "Congratulations! your printer is connected and ready to print".

Unfortunately the same desktop icon results in the same process\ installation loop.

The same printer works fine on another Win 10 notebook on the same network, but not my Spectre.

I can access the  printer directly from a browser, which enables me to scan, but when looking in devices\printers, the printer is there, but says the driver is not available, and consequently fails to print.

I have tried to install just the basic drivers too, but even though the installation says it was successful, the printer says no drivers available .

I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (5.0.6), and this detects 2 printers (I only have one) . The first printer is HP Envy 5532, the second  a HPB2ESD0 (HP Envy 5530 Series). When selecting the Envy 5532,  it says is not the default printer and would I like to set it as default, but when selecting Yes, the Print Doctor hangs and does nothing. If I then select No, then a dialogue says that the full feature software is not installed, and provides a link to download it again.

If I select the other HPB2ESD0 printer, then it says it failed to communicate, and suggests several steps to resolve the problem, which I have even done to no avail.

After several attempts of uninstalling\ reinstalling, and even following the advanced lengthy fix procedures that were automatically downloaded from HP after a previously failed installation, none of which worked, I have run out of options.

To summarise, I have tried the following

Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times.

Uninstalled all the printer related software, including numerous registry entries.

Deleted all temp files in the temp folder

Hard reset the printer

Power cycled the home router and printer

Changed the printer IP address to a static one

Changed the wireless channel on the router

Disabled all non microsoft services and the firewall prior to installing drivers

Run the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter

Run the HP Clean up Utility to fix Printer Install Failure

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

Followed the advice given here https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/HP-Envy-5532/m-p/6706207#M138994

If anyone can come up with a solution to this, I would most grateful.

Thanks

Nick
