A few days ago I suddenly lost the ability to print from my Windows 10 computer to my HP Envy Photo 7155. My computer is still running Windows 10 version 1909, and the printer has the current 2010A firmware version.
Initially Windows Printers and Scanners said the driver was unavailable, while HP Smart said the printer was present, but not installed. I ended up completely uninstalling the printer, removing it from the application list, removing it in the Printers and Scanners menu, and then going into Print server properties and removing the driver. I then used HP Printer and Scanner doctor, which installed and configured the printer. Now both Windows and HP Smart identified the printer as properly installed.
Since then, however, absolutely anything I try to printer generates a generic "There was an error printing...." message, and the printer queue shows the document with "Error - printing". I've tried both Windows troubleshooter and HP Printer and Scanner doctor, and both say there are no problems. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, restarted everything, tried compatibility mode (under which the driver couldn't even be installed), and the end result remains the same. The computer and HP Smart show a printer ready to go, but every document (including Test Prints by the Printer Doctor) generate an error that requires me to delete it from the queue. I do know it's NOT a hardware issue, though, as printing via the printer's email address worked.
