Operating System: macOS 10.13 High Sierra

We are on the instant ink plan. I live at 7300 ft. elevation.  Every time I open ink cartridges (correctly according to the directions), they leak immediately.  It's a huge mess.  Anyway to deal with this?  I'm assuming it's the elevation since we have air pressure issues with other things like lotions in tubes and other things like this.  We are also finding ourselves running out of ink before the time the plan thinks we should.
