Hi all,

I've having major difficulties getting my printer (HP ENVY Inspire 7220e) to use non-original ink cartridges.

I was on the instant ink plan for the past few months but it just wasn't working for me. so I've cancelled my instant ink plan and decided to purchase some non HP ink to use in my printer.

I have read in a few chats that I have to disable "cartridge protection" first, which I have done. But my printer still refuses to use the non standard ink, stating it was a HP+ printer and all HP+ printers must use genuine HP ink.

I have tried removing the printer from my HP account, factory resetting the printer and re-setup the printer. However, the printer refused to complete setup without me agreeing to HP+ again thus leaving me with the same problem of not being able to use non-genuine ink in my printer.

Surely this is illegal (and immoral)??? I'm certain there's a law about printer manufacturers being prohibited from preventing customer from using third party ink. Yet here we are, this is exactly what HP have done. This is a total disgrace!!!

Can anyone advise me on how I can cancel my HP+, or remove my printer from HP+ (or make it stop thinking its an HP+ printer) so I can use whatever ink I want??
