Greetings.

After performing a new O.S. installation using the media created with HP Image Assistant (HPIA), the "device drivers saga" started. This took me 3 days of careful and diligent investigation before installation of every component.

At the end of the day, a question still remains: What are these 2 "other devices" which are, in fact, "working properly" according to Windows 10? Please refer to the images showing devices by connection for better understanding.

"Other device" 1 is associated with the keyboard:

"Other device" 2 is associated with Bluetooth:

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Best regards.

Chris

Hi there, I am grateful for the guidance you provided.

Further searching provided 2 additional insights on the Keyboard_Filter_01 device:

1) It can be a Bluetooth ON/OFF Button, according to this post;

2) It can be a software feature associated with HP Hotkeys, according to this other post, and yet another one.

I noticed there is a Hotkey symbol in F12, associated to programmable shortcuts with either Shift, Ctrl or Alt:

Symbol in F12 Key: hotkey.png

So I installed "HP Programmable Key (SA)" from the respective Softpaq.

After rebooting, I still noticed Keyboard_Filter_01 device listed.

As a last resort I downloaded the latest version of "HP Quick Launch Buttons Software" released in 2010 from this other Softpaq. For the record, I only chose to install button drivers and services (just the lower checkbox).

After rebooting one more time, the so-called "device" was not showing anymore, meaning the proper software was, indeed, installed this time.

Pro Tips:

- Disable QLBCtrl.exe in Windows Startup, otherwise an additional overlay is shown for volume adjust or other hotkey presses;

- Reinstall HP System Information UWP App, otherwise the old version of the software is shown upon pressing the shortcut Fn + ESC.

I understand this discussion was very thorough and may serve as a useful future reference for others dealing with the same issue, or possibly one of those in context.

Thank you very much for the assistance.

Chris

Hello.

The Tile feature was part of some HP laptops. HP has discontinued support for Tile. You can use Tile to find your laptop, car keys etc. HP has a FAQ page for it.

Tile works with Bluetooth enabled, so check for an updated Intel Bluetooth driver package.

To use it, a Tile app from Microsoft Store is also needed.

I do not recognize the keyboard device. Please provide the hardware IDs from the Details tab, and select "Hardware Ids" from the drop down menu, and Google them. Ask here for more if you still can't identify the device.

Thanks for the information on the Tile Device. For the record, it is necessary to install an App in the Notebook from Microsoft Store, as well as a Mobile App from Apple/Google in order to find the Notebook, in case the owner needs to search for it.

For "Keyboard_Filter_01", I have already provided the Hardware Id highlighted in yellow in the previous image, but here is it once again in plain text: {A87C2E0F-9A46-46b8-8EC4-E33355FBE1F7}\KeyboardFilter

And in a screen capture:

KB_Filter_HwId.png

This is the information on the driver version:

KB_Filter_Driver.png

Clicking the button "Driver Details" shows the following message:

There is another post in HP Community mentioning an error in the same device.

Thank you one more time for replying.

Hello.

Thanks for your reply. Hardware devices mostly have vendor identifying strings in the Hardware Devices tab, which is why I asked for it. Not in this case, then.

Digging more into this A87C2E0F-9A46-46b8-8EC4-E33355FBE1F7 id, I found references to it in my G1, G6 and G9 laptops' Windows registry, pointing to "HP Hotkey Support" driver as in the other case you refered to.

HP Hotkey driver enables couple more Fn keyboard combinations in Windows 11, mainly Fn+Esc - the HP System Information window, and Fn+F8 which (un-)mutes your microphone and controls the led in F8 key.

So, have you tried the HP Hotkey Support package? Direct download for the latest version:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp145001-145500/sp145069.exe

If this does not fix it, Mr. Tikkanen's advice (in the other case) to force the driver is also worth a shot.
