Designjet T1500 PS
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Our plotter can't seem to communicate on the network. It can't be pinged, the network status shows an ip address but that cannot be pinged either. I need to perform some diagnostics and would like to do a reset to factory but the administrative user and password has been set up and locks me out of those functions. No one knows the administrative user name or password. How can I do a reset on the administrative account so I can run tests and reset to factory

Are you able to reset network without admin password?

Thank you for using the HP forum.

Error : Design jet T1500 administrative account reset

Problem Description: administrative account reset

Corrective Action:

1. Go to the front panel and press settings

2. Take a note of the IP address and the hostname (HP XXXXXX format).

3. If the computer is running Windows, go to Control Panel settings > Printers >, right-click the printer and select Properties > Ports> Configure Port, and in the Printer name or IP address field enter the hostname.

Finally, if unexpected printer behavior is experienced, one can restore most of the printer’s settings:

1. Basic networking settings can be reset by pressing setup > settings then Connectivity > Network connectivity > Advanced > Restore factory settings.

2. Network security settings can be reset by pressing setup > settings then Connectivity > Network connectivity > Gigabit Ethernet > Modify configuration > Reset Security.

For Resetting network parameters

Network parameters (for example, the IP address) can be reset to factory default values:
Front Panel > settings > connectivity > network connectivity > advanced > restore factory settings and then turning the printer off and on again.

After restoring, print an Connectivity Configuration page to confirm that factory reset values have been assigned.

I was  not able to complete these steps as the menyu options described were not avaiable. I was able to stumble into the service menu and enter the 3174 access code which unlocked the menus.

I was not able to reset any settings prior to gaining the admin access. Any reset  options were either unavailable or would request user and password. I was able to stumble into the service menu and enter the 3174 access code which unlocked the menus. Thnak you for your reply.
