Poly Edge E500

Hi, Can please someone explain features of Expansion module for Poly Edge E500? It will be used on MS SIP Gateway service. If possible provide example or reference to SfB.

Each of 22 keys can be configured to following features:

line registrations - not supported by SIP GW
call appearances - not clear, it is not explicitly supported by SIP GW (roadmap)
speed dials - this is clear, even it is not explicitly supported by SIP GW (roadmap)
direct stations - not clear
busy lamp field keys - not clear

Thank you in advance.

Hello @MatusK ,

welcome to the HP Poly community.

Our Partner Microsoft would need to answer if the SIP Gateway supports industry-standard SIP Subscribe and Notify messages to "watch" other SIP extensions.

I suggest you contact the Microsoft Support organization in your region or check Microsoft SIP gateway-related community forums.

Poly HP cannot comment on our Partner Microsoft roadmap.

Best Regards

Hi Steffen,

this features are listed in Poly Extension module Datasheet found here.

I like to hear from Poly what are these features meant for as MS uses different terms. I am sure that Poly had to integrate this features based on cooperation with providers.

Hello @MatusK ,

first of all, as stated in my signature, I am just a volunteer and not the spokesperson for HP Poly.

Part of my expertise are VoIP phones so I commented on this post to potentially set the right expectations. The Datasheet will list the functionality of the Expansion Module but I have no details on how or if the Microsoft SIP Gateway supports Buddy Watch/Busy Lamp Field which is what you are after.

The official Microsoft Page does not include such detail. From personal experience, I am also not aware where this would be configured on the Microsoft side.

Please remember the SIP Gateway is used for locations where basic phones are used, if you would want the full Microsoft Teams experience simply use Poly CCX phones instead. There is a CCX expansion module that can be used for this.

Other Volunteers are welcome to reply but the HP Poly community is not an official replacement for the HP Poly support infrastructure. You could also try a HP Poly reseller or a HP Poly Sales Engineer.

Best Regards

As there is no solid info about EM on HP domain i came here for help. Just 2 pages in Poly Edge E Series Phones Administrator  Guide PVOS 8.1.0 | February 2023 | 3725-47486-003A document.

Hello @MatusK ,

your post was marked as spam by our automatic filter so it had to be manually released.

I understand your dilemma but HP Poly's Edge E Expansion module follows industry standard SIP RFC and HP Poly cannot comment on every single SIP provider out there.

As I tried to explain, a "normal" SIP provider would support Buddy Watch or Busy Lamp Field in their SIP Signalling. As also outlined the SIP gateway is, in my opinion, for basic phone usage like in common areas, etc.

The use case you have sounds like an office environment where a CCX naive Android phone with the native Microsoft Teams client is of better use. For this, the Poly CCX Phone has an Expansion module that can be used.

Other users with real-life experience around the Microsoft SIP gateway are welcome to comment.

Best Regards
