Edge E550

How do I access the 'software update folder' in the Poly Edge E550 IP Desk Phone 2200-87050-025? I'm trying to populate the default 000000000000-directory~.xml file.

I'm trying to add directory listing (contacts with their telephone number) to the telephone instrument. In the manual it says to access the 'software update folder'. How do I do that? It isn't clear in the manual.

I can add the direct listing one at a time manually, but using the 000000000000-directory~.xml file in the software update folder I can add 100's at a time.

Thanks for all of that in depth info, but I am missing one bit of vital information. How do I access the the 000000000000-directory.xml file itself? Do I do it with ftp FileZilla? Is the username the MAC address and the password the administration password. Am I going in the correct direction?

I can't figure out how to see the file structure in the Poly Edge E550 telephone instrument.

Thanks in advance for your help...

Hello @NATP50 ,

welcome back to the HP Poly community.

Again from our VoIP FAQ:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I set up my Phone / Provisioning / Download / Upgrade / Update / Downgrade Software?
Resolution: Please check => here <= and you need Poly Lens now to get access to Poly Software.

The phone will need to load any configuration, Software, or Speed Dials from a server of your choice. Therefore the username and passwords would be defined by you.

If you still struggle, and no other volunteer replies, community searches, or existing FAQ articles will not help you further, please work with our support team in your region.

Best Regards

I have made further progress.

I have signed up for a Poly Lens account (http://lens.poly.com). This is a place that you can manage all of your Poly telephone from one place.

From the Web interface of the telephone instrument, I retrieved a Registration Code. I took that registration code and applied it to https://lens.poly.com/go cloud website, so now I can see the Poly Edge E550 IP Phone in the Poly Lens website.

It says there is a way to upload the 000000000000-directory.xml directory file from the Poly Lens website, and the Poly Lens website will upload it to telephone instrument itself.

I can see everything else, but NOT how to do this one thing.

My detective work has brought me to the possibility of needing an additional entry in the telephone instrument .CFG file. Maybe an additional entry would give me a way to upload the 000000000000-directory.xml file through the web portal of the telephone instrument itself, or maybe from the Poly Lens portal.

I feel like I’m getting closer, but I’m not there yet.

The adventure continues.

Any help you could give me would be appreciated.

Hello @NATP50 ,

welcome back to the HP Poly community.

A search finds >this<

A directory provided by you will need to go into the Resource Section as explained >here<

If you have any more questions, and a community or search engine search will not provide the answer, or no other volunteer replies, I suggest you contact our Support organization in your region as already outlined in this post. Details are in my Signature.

Steffen,

That was the missing link to figure this out.
