Hi all,
Just wanted to share my experience with the SoundStation IP 6000 and LLDP. I recently upgraded our IP 6000 to release UCS 4.0.2B so I could use LLDP to assign the VLAN ID. The Polycom UC Software 4.0.1 Administrator's Guide states on page 372 that a number of LLDP TLVs are mandatory. I made sure the switch sent out all the mandatory TLVs but for some reason the IP 6000 was ignoring the LLDP packets and not using the configured VLAN ID.
After a lot of trial-and-error, I found that the 'System Capabilities' TLV must be present, even though the admin guide lists it as 'Optional'. My switch currently transmits the following LLDP TLVs:
* Chassis ID
* Port ID
* Time-to-live
* System Capabilities
* LLDP-MED Capabilities
* LLDP-MED Network Policy
* End-of-LLDPDU
The IP 6000 unit accepts the LLDP packets and uses the VLAN ID configured in the LLDP-MED Network Policy. Note that the LLD-MED Extended Power-Via-MDI TLV is not present, even though the admin guide says it's 'Mandatory'.
Regards,
Steven

Was there ever an answer to this? I have a Polycom that I can't put on a port with a Voice VLAN and have to make the access vlan the Voice VLAN in order to get the phone to work as it does not negociate the voice VLAN properly.

Hello RicanoR,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
The orignal poster already provided an information what fix he used on his end.
The above was for LLDP but I would assume a Cisco switch would use CDP instead.
It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.
This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.
Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:
Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here
