Edge E450

Hi HP Community,

We are currently trying to set up a local directory on Poly phones that end users can add entries to their physical devies. However, whenever an end user reboots their phone, the entire directory is wiped out. This issue occurs on both Edge E and VVX models, but we're focusing on the Edge E phones as we are rolling out more of them.

Make: Poly
Model: Edge E450
Platform: OpenSIP (Asterisk-based)
UC Software Version: 8.2.2.1176

We have tried modifying the CONTACTS_DIRECTORY in the configuration file from:

CONTACTS_DIRECTORY="{$mac_address|lower}-directory.xml"

to:

CONTACTS_DIRECTORY="global-directory.xml"

Summary of the Change:

  • Original: Each phone gets its own dynamically generated contact directory file based on its MAC address.
  • Modified: All phones share a single global contact directory (global-directory.xml), which we manually manage.

Is there a parameter in the config file, physical phone settings, or web interface that can stop the contacts from being deleted every time the phone reboots when using local directories?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thx Steffen and users

Matt

Hello @mtb211 ,

welcome to the HP Poly community.

From our VoIP FAQ:

Jan 6, 2012 Question: How can I create a local contact directory/phonebook or what is the 000000000000-directory.xml used for?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

I suggest you check if your server allows the Directory to be uploaded from the phone and downloaded when the phone boots up.

Best Regards

Thank you both for your replies!

Steffen,

What my goal is , I am not looking to have the directory uploaded and downloaded but I literally just want to have that directory local to that physical phone and when the phone is rebooted I just don't want to the contact directory to clear.

Is that possible ?

Thank you,

Hello @mtb211 ,

I can only point to the VoIP FAQ again:

Mar 08, 2013 QuestionWhat files does my phone download or upload and why?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

If you still struggle, I suggest you contact our Support organization in your region if no other volunteers reply. Details are in my Signature.

Best Regards
