Polycom VVX 500

01/08/2024 voipt2.polycom.com has been decommissioned. Please use Poly Lens to download firmware and set up a local provisioning server

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I set up my Phone / Provisioning / Download / Upgrade / Update / Downgrade Software?
Resolution: Please check => here <= and you need Poly Lens now to get access to Poly Software.

^ I used this link as a provisioning server to upgrade phones to Polycom VVX 5.9.3.9694 from 4.1.7.1473 This worked until a week ago Polycom took down the URL ...

Now we cannot provision rest of our phones with Zoom because they are too outdated. Using the update button via web interface never worked, even at a location without a firewall...

Is there another URL with Polycom VVX firmware with latest update?

If not, any chance of an unofficial firmware files for latest version of VVX? we could host them on a server and update that way.

If not, is there a way to extract the already updated firmware from one of the Polycom VVX 500's we updated two weeks ago?

Any help is appreciated 😄

A list of older Audio, Video and Voice archived software and Release Notes articles are published on Official HP® Support knowledgebase. These articles are snapshot of Poly support portal before its sunset in Dec 2023. Any new software release after, please follow the new software distribution path.

To search for archived software and Release Notes, please follow the instructions:
  1. Open the Official HP® Support site.

Thank you for the detailed instructions, Steffen. Seems like a much bigger pain then before :C
I kind of wished I cloned the URL repository with the server config so I could just throw all that on a personal server quickly LOL. Either way, gotta do what you gotta do 😄

It didn't work for me... I'm searching SPIP650 firmware.  when I search "7S0S4AA Archive", nothing comes up

Hello @dubropoly ,

welcome to the HP Poly community.

Considering the SoundPoint IP 650 was end of life in 2016, what Software are you after? What version is the phone is running at present?

It's running 3.x and trying to get it on v4.0.11.0583 or 4.0.14.  The last time I used the voipt2 site for this, it worked flawlessly.

Hello @dubropoly ,

From our VoIP FAQ:

This post >here< should have a working version that allows you to upgrade from the old SIP 3.x.x version to UC Software 4.0.14

Once you are on 4.0.14 you can use the built-in update Server via Utilities => Software Upgrade would enable the phone to check for Updates:

Clicking on "Check for Updates" will connect to the Poly hosted server

The above will fetch the available versions:

Thank you, I feel like we are getting closer.  I downloaded the polycom 4.0.14 zip file and unzipped it, but don't understand what I'm supposed to do to "point the phone to the server"?  I have the files extracted in my downloads folder.  How do I create a server?

Hello @dubropoly ,

the whole post covers all this. You need either:

  • A local HTTP server
  • A local FTP server
  • A local TFTP server

Best Regards
