Hi, We are trialing some VVX 450 IP handsets and i cannot figure out how to stop the handsets from making a single ringing noise when every one of the other users handsets receives a call.

I currently have the handsets setup with all the extensions of each user in the office as BLF Line Keys (so we can see if someone is on a call form the LED indicator). However if any of the extensions save don the Line Keys receives a phone call all the handsets make a singular ringing noise and it is very annoying.

Do i have the handsets setup incorrectly (should i not be setting up each handsets extension as BLF Line Keys), i believe the ringing is so other handsets can pick up the call on that extension, but we don't want to do that.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Hello @rollers-employ ,

Welcome to the HP community.

Unfortunately, your post does not contain the currently used Software version for the HP Poly product. We are also not aware if these phones are running Poly UC Software or Poly ObiEdition software.

This is important, especially in the future, when someone finds this post in days, months, or years.

Please do not simply edit the original post but reply with the versions.

In the FAQ or the Read 1st section, we remind users why this is important.

We also do not know how knowledgeable you are if we reply with suggestions on how to change the setting or who the provider for your phone is. This may affect how or if you can make the relevant change as Admin Access is required.

I suggest you have a look at the VoIP FAQ.

If no other volunteers reply, I suggest you contact our Support organization in your region. Details are in my Signature.

Best regards

Steffen Baier

You didn't say if you are using 8x8 for your phone service but. We had a similar issue in 8x8, we had to disable the Enable call screen notifications setting and disable the Enable call audio tone for incoming calls settings.

We had to disable 2 settings in the 8x8 Device settings.

I have figured out the issue. For anyone who comes accross the same issue her eis the information:

Phone: Poly VVX450

Running Poly UC Software

Firmware Version: 6.4.7.4513

We are provisioning the handsets through Poly Lens and using the config files to configure them.

The issue was resolved by going on the handset to Main Menu > Basic > Ring Type > 3 Attendant Calls > Select option 2 Silent Ring.

Now when another users extension (which is programmed on my handset as a BLF line key) it does not ring to let me know that extension is receiving a call.
